The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Utilities Department as an Office Assistant. The Utilities Department is comprised of five divisions including Water, Wastewater, Reclaimed Water, Electric and Solid Waste. We provide a 4/10 work schedule (Mon-Thu) for most positions and rotating schedules for operations staff. Education/Training/Experience:
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D.
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience.
Skills/Abilities
- Ability to understand and respond to requests for assistance from the public and City staff, both on the telephone and in person.
- Ability to enter and prepare clear and accurate data for records and reports.
- Ability to effectively use computer systems, software applications relevant to work performed, and modern business equipment to perform a variety of work tasks.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize and maintain office and specialized files.

The selection process will consist of a review and evaluation of all applicants' qualifications. Those applicants deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to participate in a written exam. Applicants with the highest passing scores will be invited to participate in the oral interview. The written exam is tentatively scheduled to take place on November 21, 2024 and the oral interview is tentatively scheduled to take place on December 4, 2024.

The Organization The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year. The City is organized into the following departments/organizational units: Community Services, City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities. Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers. The City's total operating budget for Fiscal Year 2024 is $ 369.9 million with a General Fund operating budget of $ 194.5 million.
