Summary
Assures efficient and effective general management of the laboratory by appropriate resource utilization; using appropriate assessment techniques; administering corrective action while also providing essential education and training personnel. The incumbent will assure effective operations management using total quality management; performance and process improvements; assures effective financial management by adhering to budgetary goals/plans and purchasing policies. This position is under the direct supervision of the pathology manager or administrative director or assistant director. The incumbent is also incumbent is also responsible for 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, on-site 8 hours/day, 5 days/week subject to overtime and call back as required.
Responsibilities
+ Assesses workload and assigns tasks by assuring timely, accurate and appropriate performance of testing and reporting of results to achieve maximum utilization of resources.
+ Assures policies and procedures are properly maintained and executed by assuring proper preparation and confidentiality of personnel, technical and administrative reports and records to ensure established performance standards are followed.
+ Assures effective communication of hospital, department, and area specific policies, procedures, and other relevant information by conducting staff meetings to share information with staff members to coordinate area activities with needs of physicians, nursing and other support or patient care areas.
+ Assures personal and professional development of employees and self-development by encouraging and scheduling staff participation in continuing education workshops, professional meetings, to meet goals of the hospital and the department.
+ Assures efficient operation of work area by planning and implementing efficient resource management including general, financial, operations and personnel management to assist in development of budgetary goals.
+ Assures timely, accurate and appropriate performance of testing and reporting of results by resolving complex technical and administrative problems efficiently and effectively to ensure quality patient outcomes
+ Assures policies and procedures are properly maintained and executed by assuring proper preparation and confidentiality pf personnel, technical and administrative reports and records to ensure established performance standards are followed.
+ Assures personal and professional development of employees and self-development by evaluating, developing protocols and implementing new technology; recommending new instrumentation to meet goals of the hospital and the department.
+ Assures efficient operation of work area by planning and implementing efficient resource management including general, financial, and personnel management to assist in development of budgetary goals.
+ Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Education
Minimum: Bachelor Degree and completion of AMA approved program for medical technology
Experience
Preferred: 5 years' experience in supervisory level in MTASP
Minimum: 3 years' experience in MTASP
Licensure, Registration, Certification
Minimum: MTASP and TN Licensure as a supervisor.
