The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish.

The Strategic Partnerships Division supports the vision, mission, and direction of the agency by working across all DYCD program areas to create partnerships and strategies that enhance the quality of work done by DYCD and our contracted providers. The goal of the strategic partnerships unit is to strengthen our connections to neighborhoods throughout NYC and deepen our impact to better support community needs and positive experiences provided by our programs.

Recognizing that sports based youth and community development plays a significant role in providing meaning full opportunities for NYC neighborhoods, the Strategic Partnerships units looks to strengthen our sports network, direction, and opportunities for our providers citywide. Under the supervision of the Senior Director, the Deputy Director for Sports Management will be responsible for providing support and oversight of our Neighborhood Youth Team Sports grant and all DYCD sports related activations. Some specific duties of the Deputy Director of Sports Management will include:

- Create the roadmap and strategy for the programming, procurement, contracting and execution of the

NYS Youth Sports Grant Program with clear short, medium and long-term objectives based on NYS

required mandate and shared vision of desired outcomes.

- Work with non-profit providers throughout NYC to build and create an ecosystem that will give young

people easy access to a standard of good sports programs.

- Responsible for implementation, running, monitoring and evaluation of the sport programs throughout

the year.

- Worked closely with the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), NYC Mayors of Sports,

Wellness and Recreation, and NYC Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) to collectively ensure that

requisite funds are arranged in line with the Mayoral objectives.

- Developed working relationships with sports bodies, key stakeholders, government agencies, elected

officials and autonomous partners.

- Developed synergistic partnerships with other organizations working towards similar goals and replicate

best practices.

- Able to connect collegiate institutions, scholarship opportunities, and Olympic programs to young

athletes to ensure that the talent generated out of the sport programs is visible to all coaches,

stakeholders, families and participants.

- Network and engage the cross-departmental teams. Work collaboratively across all DYCD

workforce, youth, and community development programs.

- Build effective external relationships with elected officials, city agencies and community base, faith

base, and grassroots organizations.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
