** POSITION OVERVIEW:**

The Accounts Payable Clerk is an ambitious, detail-oriented, self-motivated individual who will report to the Associate Director of Accounts Payable, as part of the ten-person Accounting Department of KIPP NYC. The AP Clerk will be responsible for ensuring the timely processing of a high volume of weekly AP invoices and credit card transactions including accurate coding and completeness of required documentation, supporting internal personnel and external vendors with invoice and payment inquiries, delivering high-level customer service, and participating in month-end close processes, including AP accruals and adjustments, to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications: Qualifications

** PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:**

  • Review and process a high volume of AP invoices and credit card expenses, ensuring all invoices are properly approved, coded, and allocated to the correct GL accounts.
  • Update and maintain the vendor database, including entering new vendor requests into the accounts payable system.
  • Ensure compliance with vendor documentation requirements, including maintaining Form W-9s on file and performing checks before adding new vendors.
  • Assist in transitioning vendors from check payments to ACH, the organization's preferred payment method.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director on special projects and ad hoc requests.
  • Reconcile 1099 forms and manage corporate credit card reconciliation processes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.

** QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:**

  • Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or high school diploma and equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the Accounts Payable cycle and practices.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Previous experience with Sage Intacct (preferred).
  • Certified Accounts Payable Practitioner (CAPP) certification (preferred).

Compensation and Benefits:

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $25-35 per hour. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role and longevity within the KIPP network.
