Director of Curriculum and AssessmentAbout the OpportunityAs Forte Prep expands its central office, we are excited to add a Director of Curriculum and Assessment to our team. This role will codify best practices, provide insights, and strengthen our curricular work through assessment, curriculum selection and organization, professional development, and feedback to teachers and leaders. The Director of Curriculum and Assessment will support school leaders across our network by reviewing lesson plans, creating project plans for curriculum adoption, supporting implementation, and analyzing assessment data. Through these structures, the Director will identify key levers that drive academic excellence and partner with school leaders to enact these strategies.The Director of Curriculum and Assessment will work closely with the Chief Schools Officer to support the codification of our middle school curriculum and assessment strategy, while playing a central role in curriculum adoption and implementation of high school curriculum. This role will also oversee the structure and development of assessments across both campuses.Additionally, the Director will ensure that all curricular materials, including lesson plans and exams, are of the highest quality, continually raising the bar for what is possible for students. They will adapt, assess, and ensure the strong implementation of curriculum and assessments.What You'll Do
- Work closely with the Chief Schools Officer to manage projects, select curriculum, monitor implementation, and identify key academic strategies for middle and high schools.
- Meet regularly with school leaders, coaches, and teachers to set instructional priorities and provide feedback.
- Create and revise high-quality, organized, and error-free exams, units, and lesson materials that are easy to implement by school partners.
- Use data to identify areas of need and effective practices to share across classrooms. Develop and execute plans for remediation where necessary.
- Support the growth and sustainability of Advanced Placement programs across schools.
- Analyze trends in Regents exam performance across subjects, the city, and the state. Develop and execute plans to improve results.
- Facilitate professional development, lesson study groups, and co-observations with school leaders to enhance academic and pedagogical expertise.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to share best practices in instruction across content areas. Lead professional development sessions and assess external resources to further improve instruction.
- Work with Directors of Operations to build seamless assessment schedules and structures that maximize student outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Director of Data and Analytics to curate and analyze classroom and instructional data.
What You'll Bring A bachelor's degree (required), with at least 5+ years of teaching experience, including 2+ years in a high school setting. Experience providing academic feedback and support across content areas, with deep expertise in at least one subject. Fluency in all aspects of academic pedagogy, including standards, assessments, and lesson design and execution. The ability to quickly build relationships and work collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, and operations staff. Strong data analysis skills with the ability to identify instructional improvement opportunities. The ability to prioritize and manage multiple workstreams. A deep curiosity about content and instruction, with a desire to continually grow in your understanding of academic pedagogy. A firm commitment to Forte Prep's mission. A passion for working with students and closing the opportunity gap in an urban environment.Compensation The salary range for this role is $85,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience.
