Job Description :

The Fire Safety Floor Manager monitors the fire command station and uses the Public Address (PA) system to guide building occupants during alarms, drills, and emergencies. Responsibilities include maintaining and implementing the Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plan, ensuring regular training for personnel, developing and updating evacuation plans, and coordinating with building engineers, security, and governmental entities. The Fire Safety Floor Manager conducts tests, manages safety hazards, and oversees compliance with fire safety regulations. Essential Duties

  • Maintains and implements the Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plan
  • Ensures that regular Fire Safety/EAP training is provided for Fire Safety/EAP personnel and tenants
  • Develops and updates emergency building evacuation plans and set related policies; responsible for determining and authorizing implementation of the appropriate response to an emergency which requires evacuation
  • Identifies and recognizes safety hazards and follow RWNY procedures to manage such hazards
  • Conducts daily and monthly tests of the fire command station, elevators, and fire extinguishers
  • Assists with scheduling and conducting fire and evacuation drills
  • Ensures that all Fire and Life Safety Logbooks, assignment charts, are accurate and up to date
  • Coordinates with RWNY Building Engineers, Security, and Facility workers to accomplish fire safety tasks and responsibilities
  • Serves as the primary point of reference for issues related to fire and life safety. Reviews work orders for building repairs and maintenance to ensure they are completed.
  • Be responsible for the implementation of all rules and regulations related to fire prevention. and the building department fire safety codes

  • Ensures that regular Fire and Life Safety training is provided for Fire Safety/EAP personnel
  • Familiarize and execute RWNY directives in ADA compliance at the local, state, and federal level
  • Monitors fire command station and utilize Public Address (PA) system to provide directions to building occupants during building alarms, fire and evacuation drills, and non-fire emergencies.
  • Coordinates with RWNY Building Engineers, Security, and Facility workers to accomplish fire safety tasks and responsibilities. Along with other governmental entities such as but not limited to FDNY, NYPD, NYC Office of Building Management
  • Serves as the primary point of reference for issues related to fire and life safety. Ensures tenant complaints are addressed; reviews work orders for building repairs and maintenance to ensure they are completed.

Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required, second language a plus. Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations. Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability: Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Ability to decipher various reports and maintain reports upon request.   • The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. When on the property or some back-of-house areas, the noise level becomes louder. Must be able to interact with internal and external guests in a professional manner.
  • Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, employees must be able to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
Qualifications
  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Three years of experience in Fire and Life Safety work or Facilities Management centered activities in an area related to duties described above
  • Candidate must have a Certificate of Fitness (F85 or F89 or T89 or Z89) for Fire Safety & Life Safety Director from the FDNY
  • Preferably served as an FDNY Fireman, with qualifications listed above
