For more than 50 years, Gowanda Electronics has been a leader in the design, manufacture, and supply of precision electronic components for RF, microwave, and power applications. Components include standard off-the-shelf and custom-designed inductors, chips, chokes, coils, conicals, toroids, transformers, and magneticdevices in surface mount and axial-leaded (thru-hole) configurations that are used in a wide variety of electronic applications around the world. The company offers RoHS-compliant products as well as lead-containing components for QPL military/defense and other demanding requirements. Non-magnetic inductors are also available for situations where magnetic components would compromise system performance, as in medical imaging (MRI) equipment.

SUMMARY

The Procurement Manager oversees the process of buying materials for the company. They optimize costs, negotiate favorable terms with suppliers, and ensure financial efficiency. They are responsible for mitigating risk while optimizing budget, alongside maintaining high quality standards and a competitive edge.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Developing sound, cost-effective strategies for the purchasing of materials used in the business
• Maintaining relationships with suppliers while continually scouting for additional vendors
• Evaluating spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries
• Communicating with management regularly regarding the efficient flow of goods and services affecting production
• Conducting cost analyses and setting benchmarks for improvement
• Developing risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages
• Supervising a purchasing team and delegating tasks across departments when necessary
• Working closely with the company legal department to make sure contracts and terms are favorable
• Other duties as assigned.

Required skills and qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

• Five or more years job-related experience.
• Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in procurement management, supply chain management, or other business related field
• Outstanding management skills
• Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in reading the market
• Superior talent in negotiations and networking
• Good knowledge of supplier or third party management software
• Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
• Experience in collecting and analyzing data
• Strong organization skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legal guidelines
