The Mental Health Counselor provides individual counseling/therapy with an assigned caseload to registered SUNY Poly students. The counselor will also coordinate, organize and deliver outreach programs, campus trainings and provide group counseling as needed. The counselor also provides intake assessment interviews, referrals, consultation with faculty and staff related to student mental health, along with training student leaders and the campus community on topics related to emotional and mental health. Crisis intervention/suicide assessment is provided as needed with referrals to psychiatric and/or medical resources as needed. Counselor may be involved with on campus committees related to student mental health. In-office and tele-health counseling sessions are provided at SUNY Poly. The counselor must maintain clinical records in compliance with State and Federal regulatory requirements and collaborates with the Director of the Wellness Center regarding mental health issues and the operation and needs of counseling services. The Counselor updates information regarding Counseling services including: updating the website, brochures and psychological tools (for screening and assessment, etc).

Salary: $62,000 - $65,000

Minimum Requirements:

+ Master's Degree in counseling, counseling/clinical psychology, or equivalent degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.

+ Required qualifications: NYS license (Psychologist, LCSW or LCSW-R, LMHC or LMFT) and 3 to 5 years of clinical counseling experience a must.

+ Occasional evening, weekend, and crisis responsibilities is required.

+ Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and cooperatively with an increasingly diverse population of students and colleagues. Ability to maintain up to date and accurate documentation is essential and mandatory. Must have experience with performing suicide assessments and working with complex cases/crisis cases independently and effectively
