Advocate for individuals in substance use recovery and connect them with vital recovery resources in the community. Serve as a liaison between SHARE Foundation, SARH, Newhaven, ACTIVE Coalition, 100 Families, and other community partners for SUD prevention, treatment, and recovery. RequirementsQualificationsEducation required: GED, High School Diploma, or equivalent. Two years of lived experience in abstinence-based recovery. 1-2 years of working with patients or in community service is required. Experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word,Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Must be able to learn new software quickly. The ability to confidently convey a compelling message on various sensitive topics, such as peer recovery, substance use/abuse, substance-related problems, and prevention, in varied settings to large groups of people. Must work effectively with a diverse population to develop strong working relationships and collaborations for desired outcomes. Have a genuine interest in helping others with recovery and prevention.CertificationsPeer Recovery Specialist Certification is required within 24 months of hire.Physical and Mental RequirementsSedentary Work: Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other Sedentary criteria are met.The minimum requirements of this position require this individual to: Hear alarms/telephone/normal speaking voice Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard Have clarity of vision with/without corrective lenses This position is considered Safety Sensitive under applicable Arkansas laws pertaining to the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. This position includes as part of the job duties performing life-threatening procedures and regularly working with controlled substances, foods, medicine and highly sensitive and confidential medical information. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety of the employee and others, the employee must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while performing life-threatening procedures and working with controlled substances, foods, medicine and confidential medical information.Other Requirements for Continued Employment Must pass a criminal back ground check Valid current driver's license Must maintain current automobile insurance coverage at all times Must provide and use personal transportation Have and maintain clean motor vehicle report Weekly travel may occur within El Dorado and Union County, Arkansas. Sex offender registry clearance. Maintain certifications Availability to work as scheduled during normal hours of operation 40 hours a week. Ability to work a flexible schedule if there is a need to work overtime, after hours, or weekends. Maintain certifications. Maintain HIPAA privacy requirements and confidentiality. Duties:
  • Work independently and collaboratively with the Prevention Director to gain ongoing knowledge of the following: Evidence-informed programs or curriculum Guiding principles and diverse paths to recovery Roles and core values of peer recovery specialists Relationship building and communication skills Cultural competence in recovery support Boundaries and ethical issues in peer recovery support Recovery process and stages of change Recovery-focused and strengths-based problem-solving approaches Signs and symptoms of substance use and mental health challenges Local drug and alcohol treatment system Community resources necessary for establishing and maintaining an independent life in recovery Trauma-informed approaches
  • Establish working relationships with core partners: SARH, Newhaven, ACTIVE Coalition, and 100 Families. Develop and maintain relationships with other community resources. Attend partner meetings as invited and available.
  • Collaborate with the Data Analyst and assist with data collection for program (grant) requirements in a legible manner. Provide tracked and documented information (as requested) to the Data Analyst for data entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist in the orientation process for those new to the program.
  • Support personalized recovery planning focused on positive engagement with the criminal justice system.
  • Advocate for individuals while supporting compliance
  • Link participants to resources, services, and supports
  • Assist participants in managing crisis
  • Maintain group and individual supportive interaction with participants, their families, and social supports
  • Provide education and advocacy within the community and agency that promotes awareness of substance abuse disorders and criminal thinking while reducing misconceptions, prejudice, and discrimination
  • Represent SHARE Foundation and the program (grant) as a leader and resource for adult peer recovery. Ensure that communications are open and effective between the core partners (SHARE, SARH, Newhaven, ACTIVE Coalition, and 100 Families).
  • Assist the Adult Prevention Director and Data Analyst in coordinating the annual Work Plan activities. Review and update the Work Plan annually to show progression and growth.
  • Organize, coordinate, and facilitate recovery meetings and support groups in individual and group settings.
  • Ensure program (grant) goals, strategies, and objectives are high priority and the major focus in weekly and monthly activities.
  • Manage the program within the program definition consistent with the established mission, goals, objectives, policies, and current operating budget of SHARE.
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Analyst to ensure data is being tracked, analyzed, and reported in compliance with grant requirements. Assist the Data Analyst in collecting data.
  • Assist the Prevention Director and Data Analyst in coordinating and facilitating the Needs Assessment.
  • Submit monthly reports to the Prevention Director for SHARE Foundation Board of Directors reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how SHARE's IMPACT values help achieve our mission to impact the health and well-being of our community. Demonstrate those values daily and be willing to overcome behaviors that negatively affect relationships with co-workers and the people we serve.
