This position directs and manages the operations of the City's Electric, Water, and Wastewater Utilities and is responsible for providing reliable and economical electrification, potable water, wastewater collection and treatment, and fire protection water to the citizens and businesses of the City of Dothan and other areas as may be affected. Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises the construction, repair, operation, and maintenance of the utility systems and auxiliary equipment. Manages personnel and performs a variety of highly complex administrative functions related to the utility system; reviews, analyzes, and establishes long-range capital improvement programs, implements, and manages policies and procedures. The Utilities Director reports to the City Manager.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university accredited by an accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical/Industrial Engineering, or closely related field is required.
Certified as an Alabama Professional Engineer (PE) is required. Master's Degree in a related field is preferred.
Seven (7) years of senior management experience with a private or public utility providing administrative-level leadership to water, wastewater treatment/collection, or electrical distribution systems is required.
