Adheres to Federal, State and local laws and other regulatory requirements regarding pharmacy and institutional practice. Performs related work rotating between the satellites, outpatient pharmacy, shifts and tours.General tasks and responsibilities will include (Inpatient):
  • Under pharmacist supervision, will rotate assignments, and tours to meet departmental needs.
  • Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time period.
  • Able to communicate effectively (orally and in writing).
  • Receive, return and deliver medications and supplies to various hospital areas.
  • Delivers anesthesia trays to the OR and procedural areas.
  • Operate equipment properly. Troubleshoots automated dispensing systems as needed.
  • Prepackage medications in appropriate containers for dispensing.
  • Prepares non-patient specific batches of IV solutions in accordance with USP guidelines and procedures.
  • Compounds sterile and non-sterile products in accordance with USP guidelines and procedures.
  • Conducts nursing unit, outpatient clinic and pharmacy area inspections. Assist with institutional and departmental regulatory surveys as needed.
  • Utilizes inpatient computerized systems to enter and access patient care information.
  • Maintains and retrieves pharmacy records using automated and/or manual systems Obtains drugs from stock and returns them to stock.
  • Fills, code trays and anesthesia trays.
  • Perform functions related to Omnicell (loading & unloading medications, review of reports).
  • Maintains pharmacy inventory & supplies according to established policy.
  • Assist in ordering, receiving, unpacking and storing pharmaceutical medication and supplies in appropriate locations.
  • Restocks meds in IV dispense area.
  • Answers telephones, generate labels, file missing and new medication requests.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications1. Graduates and undergraduates of a College of Pharmacy in the United States shall be required to secure a New York State Pharmacy Intern Permit before being eligible as an Intern.A minimum of six months of supervised training is requested for admission to the full Pharmacist licensing examination.The six months may be completed in accordance with the following: a. Up to three months in each of the summers preceding the final and the next to final years of a professional curriculum in Pharmacy. b. Any portion or all of the internship may be completed subsequent to graduation from a registered program in Pharmacy, or its equivalent. 2. Graduates from a College of Pharmacy in a foreign country shall be required to secure a New York State Pharmacy Intern Permit before being eligible as an Intern.A minimum of one year of supervised training is required for admission to the full pharmacist licensing examination.NYC Health and Hospitals offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
