JOB SUMMARY:
The Dietary Aide assists with a variety of food service duties to ensure meals are provided to residents in a caring environment. The Dietary Aide will serve meals, clean resident dining and kitchen areas, distribute and collect menu cards and provide a variety of other food service duties to ensure resident satisfaction.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel as well as with other departments within the facility to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
Attend and participate in in-services as directed
Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
Assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
Serve food in accordance with established temperature procedures.
Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Clean worktables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc.
Sweep and mop floors as directed.
Wash and clean utensils as directed.
Set up meal trays, food carts, dining room, serving, etc., as instructed.
Distribute and collect menus as necessary.
Serve food in dining room as instructed.
Remove food trays from carts, dining rooms, etc., and take to dishwashing area.
Prepare snacks as assigned
Prepare foods in accordance with sanitary regulations as well as our established policies and procedures.
Assist in preparation for special meals, for parties, etc.
Ensure that safety regulations and precautions are followed at all times by all personnel.
Complete daily or scheduled cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Ensure that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to the Dietary Director/ Dietician immediately.
Report all accidents/incidents to Supervisor on shift.
Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
Report missing/illegible labels or MSDSs to Dietary Director/ Dietician.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to plan and adapt policies and procedures relating to social services.
Strong organizational skills.
Demonstrate integrity, imagination, and initiative, showing appropriate manner and conduct.
Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other facility staff.
Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Meets all health requirements, as required by law.
Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience in industrial food production preferred.
Prior experience working in a long-term care facility a plus.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
Meet all health requirements as needed.
