Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and premiums.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to management on financial performance.
- Assist in annual audit preparations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Adhere to internal controls and company policies to safeguard company assets.
Qualifications of the Staff Accountant:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA certification or progress towards CPA preferred.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the insurance industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
