Description Aquila's Fitness Specialist assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center. This position is 32 work hours a week, 8 hours a day, Monday through Thursday. Friday work shift may also be available. Pay rate is $19/hour. Personal training commissions of 50% are also available in addition to the hourly rate. Work location is in downtown Miami 3 days a week, and in the Miami airport area 1 day a week. Responsibilities include:
- Teach group fitness class
- Conduct personal training sessions
- Supervise exercise areas
- Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
- Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
- Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
- Aid members - spotting and equipment usage
- Explain all equipment
- Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
- Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
- Adhere to client's policies and procedures
- Attend staff meetings
- Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
- Perform daily administrative duties
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or in related health/fitness field, OR an active NCCA accredited fitness certification (ACE, NASM, NCSF, NCCPT, AFAA, ACSM or NSCA)
- Active CPR certification
- 0-1 year experience in supervising adults during exercises
