Job Title: Food & Nutrition Aide Reports To: Director - Food & Nutrition ServicesDirect Reports: None FLSA Classification: Non-ExemptPosition Summary The Food & Nutrition Aide is responsible for performing a variety of duties including loadingand operating dishwashers, preparing basic food items, and maintaining work area in sanitary and well stocked condition. Responsible for the proper sanitation, food handling, schedules and policies set by the facility to ensure proper delivery of nutrition services.General Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Serves food according to written and verbal instructions including type, quantity, and portions for patients, special functions and cafeteria customers.
  • Cleans up after meals by storing and labeling unused food properly, puts away unused food and utensils; cleans work area using appropriate cleaning solution; washes and stores dishes and pots and pans; sweeps/mops floors; cleans kitchen area; and performs special cleaning assignments as assigned.
  • Serves as cashier for cafeteria customers.
  • Stocks the bi-weekly deliveries per instructions and practices First In/First Out procedures.
  • Documents tasks on the department Infection Control forms; documents free meals and all work/food leaving the cafeteria.
  • Follows federal and state sanitary regulations as well as facility infection control guidelines and dietary policies and procedures; observes safety precautions at all times, uses safety signs for cleaning where appropriate; uses equipment safely and appropriately; follows standard precautions.
  • Provides training to dietary staff as directed
  • Records and handles all messages quickly and appropriately.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all department data and activities.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in work schedules.
  • Performs all aspects in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors; uses and maintains equipment safely and appropriately; follows standard precautions.
  • Complies with all established safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Demonstrates proper use and storage of chemicals.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
  • High School diploma / Equivalent combination of education and experience Required
Certification / Licensure Requirements
  • Current IL ServSafe Food Protection Certification within 1 year
Experience Requirements
  • Food Service minimum 2 years Preferred
Computer Skills
  • Strong computer skills preferred
Additional Skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner
