The Chronicle of Higher Education also named Clayton State one of 79 higher education institutions across the nation in its list of 2017 Great Colleges to Work For.Job SummaryThis position is responsible for maintaining the security and safety of the University grounds and facilities. This is done primarily by conducting ongoing inspections of University facilities and grounds, observing and reporting unusual activities and potentially hazardous conditions, and preventing campus access by unauthorized persons.Responsibilities* Provides safety and protective services for the University community by patrolling assigned buildings and grounds on foot and/or in vehicle.* Assists in emergency evacuations of facilities by guiding community members to safety; opening doors and facilities for authorized persons; traffic direction and control to ensure pedestrian and traffic safety.* Maintains security checkpoint at main entrance to campus and other locations as required in order to monitor facility access, event access, or other areas for safety/security purposes, assist with special events; and with parking enforcement and monitoring to ensure compliance with campus rules and regulations.* Observes and reports any unsafe utility equipment to include reporting fire and other safety precautions.* Provides visitors, students, staff and faculty with basic information and directions.* Performs other duties as needed.Required Qualifications* High School Diploma or GED required.* Two years of related or a combination of education and experience.* Valid state of Georgia driver's license required at time of employment.* Ability to obtain Security Guard certification within six-months of employment.* Must be a eligible to work in the United States.* Must have 20/20 vision or corrected 20/20 vision.* Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a thorough background investigation, polygraph test, physical exam, fingerprinting and drug screening test as well as driving background investigation.Proposed Salary* 33,280.00 ($16hr)Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities* Must have the ability to maintain awareness of surroundings and be alert to potential safety problems.* Must have physical ability to perform essential job functions, flexibility to work weekends, holidays and/or nights.* Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.* Knowledge of basic safety and crime prevention practices; customer service practices; basic fire prevention methods.* Effective customer service skills.Apply Before Date* September 1, 2024.Contact Information* Public Safety 678-###-####USG Core ValuesThe University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
