This is done primarily by conducting ongoing inspections of University facilities and grounds, observing and reporting unusual activities and potentially hazardous conditions, and preventing campus access by unauthorized persons.Responsibilities* Provides safety and protective services for the University community by patrolling assigned buildings and grounds on foot and/or in vehicle.* Assists in emergency evacuations of facilities by guiding community members to safety; opening doors and facilities for authorized persons; traffic direction and control to ensure pedestrian and traffic safety.* Maintains security checkpoint at main entrance to campus and other locations as required in order to monitor facility access, event access, or other areas for safety/security purposes, assist with special events; and with parking enforcement and monitoring to ensure compliance with campus rules and regulations.* Observes and reports any unsafe utility equipment to include reporting fire and other safety precautions.* Provides visitors, students, staff and faculty with basic information and directions.* Performs other duties as needed.Required Qualifications* High School Diploma or GED required.* Two years of related or a combination of education and experience.* Valid state of Georgia driver's license required at time of employment.* Ability to obtain Security Guard certification within six-months of employment.* Must be a eligible to work in the United States.* Must have 20/20 vision or corrected 20/20 vision.* Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a thorough background investigation, polygraph test, physical exam, fingerprinting and drug screening test as well as driving background investigation.Proposed Salary* 33,280.00 ($16hr)Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities* Must have the ability to maintain awareness of surroundings and be alert to potential safety problems.* Must have physical ability to perform essential job functions, flexibility to work weekends, holidays and/or nights.* Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.* Knowledge of basic safety and crime prevention practices; customer service practices; basic fire prevention methods.* Effective customer service skills.Apply Before Date* September 1, 2024.Contact Information* Public Safety 678-###-####USG Core ValuesThe University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
