Position DetailsReq ID:req18993Position Title:Human Resource SpecialistPosition Type:Staff Full-TimePosition Number:0000Campus:LangstonDepartment:Langston UniversityLocation Address:United States Hiring Supervisor:Hiring Range: (Contingent upon available funding):35,000.00 - 45,000.00, Commensurate with education and experienceWork Schedule:8-5 (Monday - Friday)Faculty Appt Period:Job Summary:Job Title: HR SpecialistPosition Type: Full-TimeDepartment/Division: Human ResourcesReports to (Position): Assistant Director of HRPositions Reporting to this Position: N/AFLSA Status: Non-ExemptWork Environment/Location: Main CampusPosition Summary:The HR Specialist is anentry-level position focused on enhancing the university's talent acquisitionefforts by supporting a business partner model for recruitment and onboarding.This role collaborates with the HR team to ensure seamless recruitmentworkflows and onboarding processes.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Serve as a recruitment partner for non-Academic Affairs divisions, including the Office of the President, Fiscal Affairs, Operations, and Student Affairs.Manage job postings, candidate screenings, interview scheduling, and offer letters in collaboration with hiring managers for non-Academic Affairs divisions.Facilitate onboarding processes to ensure new hires have a positive transition into their roles.Work closely with the HR Generalist to streamline the Electronic Personnel Action Form (EPAF) process for new hires and terminated employees and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures for EPAF submissions.Collaborate with HR team members to optimize recruitment workflows and identify areas for improvement.Provide general HR support as needed to ensure smooth operations across all HR functions.Perform other duties as assigned. Special Instructions to ApplicantsApply online and upload a resume for full consideration.Education & ExperiencePosition Qualifications:Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a relevantdiscipline with a minimum of 1-3 years relevant experience in HR or a relatedfield, such as recruitment, onboarding, or employee relations as a humanresource. Prior experience in human resources in an academic setting desired. HRcertification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus but not required.Skills and Competencies:Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).Knowledge of HR principles and best practices in recruitment and onboarding.Understanding of BannerIntermediate understanding of all aspects of human resources.Proven skills in building and maintaining effective work relationships with all levels of the organization. Must have a proven record of taking initiative and being proactive.Excellent judgment, problem solving, customer service, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills. Proven clear and effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical skills.Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters with tact and discretion and sustain ethical workplace practices. Experience with Banner EPAFs or similar HR processes is advantageous.Work/Physical Environment:This position is primarilyoffice-based with occasional travel for recruitment events, meetings, ortraining. Office environment withmoderate noise levels. Regular use of acomputer, phone, and other office equipment, requiring prolonged periods ofsitting and typing. Occasional lifting or carrying of materials (up to 25pounds) such as files, brochures, or recruitment materials.
