Key Responsibilities
  • You will be trained in our Fort Myers, FL Sheet Metal Shop to learn how weld duct, build duct and eventually install duct. B&I will provide the skills and training to pass and attain welding certifications. After training and certifications are complete the welders will transfer to the field where they will be required to weld duct and when there are no projects that require welding then they will be installing non-welded duct.
  • Once you have passed your certifications you will be transferred to the field to assemble, install and repair sheet metal products and equipment such as ductwork, fittings, fans, dampers and air distribution.
  • The Sheet Metal Trainee/Apprentice assembles, installs and repairs sheet metal products and equipment such as ductwork, fittings, fans, dampers and air distribution.
  • Install duct, accessories and equipment at the jobsite according to blueprint specifications.
  • Use of hand tools and portable power tools per specifications of job.
  • May be required to work with a Sheet Metal Helper to provide instruction as to proper methods of tool handling and work product specifications.
  • Must complete spec work for fittings, fans, dampers and air distribution.
Qualifications
  • GED or High School Graduate Preferred.
  • Understand how to measure duct for fabrication, make field modifications and install duct by shop blueprints.
  • Work skillfully with tools, metals and machines.
  • Visualize three-dimensional objects from drawings, sketches or blueprints.
  • Work within precise limits and standards.
  • Perform a variety of duties which may change often.
  • Rate information using measurable standards.
  • Understand English and follow and provide directives to assigned helpers.
  • Must use hands, fingers, arms and legs fully; kneel, crouch and crawl; climb and balance on ladders and scaffolds; climb stairs, reach overhead, push, pull, lift and stoop. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comply with all B&I safety procedures.
  • Drug test, background check and a clean driving record are pre-employment requirements.
