Construction Superintendent

Our client is looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent to manage government construction projects in the Sacramento area. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of government regulations, contract requirements, and safety standards. They will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations on-site, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be expected to Coordinate with Project Managers, Project Engineers and supporting staff regarding construction activities. Will also work with sub-contractors to successfully complete project(s) on schedule and within budget.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Supervise all on-site construction activities for government projects, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, government agencies, and inspectors to ensure efficient workflow and clear communication.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as contract requirements and safety protocols.
  • Lead and manage on-site construction teams, including subcontractors, ensuring productivity, adherence to deadlines, and quality control.
  • Develop, update, and maintain project schedules, identifying potential delays and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitor project costs, control expenditures, and ensure project stays within budget while maintaining quality.
  • Enforce safety regulations and protocols on the job site to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
  • Provide regular progress updates and reports to project managers, government representatives, and stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to project design, safety, and execution in a timely manner.
  • Monitor craft and subcontractor compliance with project safety program requirements; performs weekly safety inspections and tool box talks; documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented
  • Ensure craft time cards are completed accurately, reflecting hours worked and tasks worked on; assigns cost codes to all purchases, time cards, contracts, equipment time and any other item involving cost
  • Coordinate with Project Engineer/Project Manager as to changes made in the field, so that such changes may be covered by general contact change orders and subcontract change orders.
  • Perform project close-out and ensures punch list is completed in a timely manner

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, with at least 1 year overseeing government construction projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, but not required.
  • OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR certifications preferred.
  • Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local government regulations, labor laws, and contract management related to construction projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with clients, government officials, and subcontractors.
  • Willingness to travel as required by the project location.
  • Must be an organized multi-tasker with appositive attitude and the ability to coordinate and communicate professionally with clients, architects to ensure a smooth project
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record
