The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to cremate a body of a person.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) is searching for qualified candidates who will be responsible for the following tasks but are not limited to the following:

- Take custody of, store, count, and track FDA regulated reference samples.

- Purchase, manage, track, store, maintain and distribute supplies and equipment agencywide.

- Checking materials received against invoices and note breakage or discrepancies in quantity; also take supplies from storage to fill requisitions, lift and carry supplies when necessary.

- Performing annual inventory for reporting purposes.

- Stocking shelves and reporting supply shortages to assigned supervisor.

- Maintaining records and preparing reports.

- Loading and unloading items at storeroom and at the various points of pick-up, delivery and/or distribution.

- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or its equivalent and:

1. One year of appropriate full-time experience or training in a biological, chemical, or clinical laboratory; or

2. Eight credits, including laboratory coursework, in biology, chemistry, or medical technology, from an accredited college or university; or

3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of (1) and (2) above. However all candidates must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
