Our client located in the Pittsburgh, PA area is looking to hire a Cisco Network Engineer with the following skills: Job Purpose The Cisco Network Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of the data communications equipment and systems within our client and affiliated business units for connectivity requests and/or reported problems. The Cisco Network Engineer reviews, organizes, communicates, and records all requests for data services. Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include configuration of Cisco 9300 and 3850 switches, other data communications devices, design and implementation of local and wide area networking platforms, and problem determination knowledge in these areas. The Cisco Network Engineer is expected to review, organize, communicate, and record requests for service additions, deletions, and/or changes within our client. The Cisco Network Engineer also will provide technical assistance to departmental personnel, clients, vendors, and other parties as assigned to meet business requirements or provide continued network services. The Cisco Network Engineer works closely with all of our client's departments and business units, ISD departments and/or groups, as required, to meet business objectives, resolve problems, provide technical assistance in accordance with assigned responsibilities, and when necessary, coordinates with other telecommunications resources in carrying out the assigned responsibilities. This position also interacts with vendors and suppliers. Minimum Requirements Educational/Knowledge Requirements: Acquisition of Core IT skills and knowledge via 3 years of Cisco communications infrastructure (Switching) design and support experience. Mastery of the essential basic knowledge base for an IT professional. Demonstrate thorough understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of data network engineering and apply that understanding to make independent practical contributions to Network data infrastructure installation, support, and maintenance. Preferred Certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA Route/Switch) Responsibilities - Provide service to ISD client community, patients, families and visitors, while protecting the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and electronic measures. - Perform site surveys with ISD and client representatives to insure complete and accurate record-keeping and project documentation for requested services, including wiring requirements in support of the client request, specialized power requirements in support of data and/or voice communications hardware. Provide technical assistance pertaining to guidelines and/or rules/regulations covering wiring systems and network infrastructure connectivity. - Maintain electronic documentation, as defined by the Manager outlining wiring and interconnection for all of our client's facilities, as approved by the Manager and/or the Director, ISD, including master and intermediate wiring closet configurations, cross-connection to data communications hardware (switches, routers, hubs, etc.), and other hardware as part of all projects and/or initiatives assigned. - Coordinate with other ISD departments or assigned group/person, on all requests for addition, relocation, and/or removal of required wiring to meet network client requirement(s). - Review all assigned network client specialized service requests, received through request notification systems and respond to client requests, within service level, providing information as to service(s) and lead-time to meet objective. Coordinate with client in service delivery activities and all requirements to meet the request, keeping the client current on the status of the service request (i.e. phone call, email, etc.). - Coordinate and support installation of data communications network hardware including, but not limited to routers, switches, hubs, servers, terminals, printers, personal computers, controllers, wireless access points, etc. as outlined and documented in assigned project(s) and/or initiative(s). - Plan, publish, maintain, and distribute technical documentation pertaining to the Data Communications network including pictures, procedures, practices, and problem determination guidelines as requested or assigned by the Manager, Data Communications, and/or the Director, ISD Technical Services Department. - Provide ISD Level II support services for problem calls escalated by the NOC and coordinate with personnel and vendors to resolve issues. Report back to the NOC on problem status until resolved. - Understand and explain network topologies, network hardware and protocols. - Troubleshoot network problems and knowledge of network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark/NetScout). - Assist with network sizing and network troubleshooting. - Assist with installation and support of networks, including LAN/WAN/WLAN systems. - Assist in the implementation and maintenance of data or voice and data communication networks. - Familiarity with Cisco network management toolset (Prime Infrastructure, APIC-EM, DNA Center is preferred) - Apprise project manager of status, schedule variances, and outstanding issues. - Control project costs and communicate any project-related expenses to project manager.
