Job Description

JOB TITLE: Clerk Bookkeeper CLASSIFICATION: Nonexempt REPORTS TO: Principal PAY GRADE: PSS 5 Choose # of days worked LOCATION: Assigned Campus DATE REVISED: 4/19/2017

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Collect and disburse all school activity money. Demonstrate proper accounting and safekeeping of all monies in the school.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

* High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

* Proficient knowledge and use of 10 key adding machine and computer

* Good math skills

* Good organizational skills

* Effective interpersonal skills

Experience:

* One to three years of bookkeeping experience in public education preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

* Reconcile cash on hand.

* Reconcile returned checks.

* Receipt cash.

* Deposit cash daily.

* Receipt daily deposits made by student activity sponsors.

* Maintain a general ledger of all student activity accounts.

* Report required monthly bank reconciliation, account ledger, sequential lists of checks, and sequential list of receipts.

* Maintain proper file names and tabulations of monies collected from students for lost textbooks.

* Write checks for payment of all outstanding debts for the school and activity sponsors.

* Disburse student activity monies as required.

* Register student and faculty vehicles, collect fees, maintain records.

* Provide principal with financial data as required.

* Project a good image for students in dress, demeanor, and speech.

* Demonstrate a positive attitude toward life and students.

* Display punctuality, congeniality, dependability, and efficiency.

* Exhibit exemplary ethical and moral behavior.

* Cooperate fully with colleagues in shared responsibilities.

* Show tolerance for peer differences and promote harmony.

* Share experiences, ideas, and knowledge with peers.

* Seek advice and counsel when needed.

* Personal Computer, typewriter, printer, copier, fax machine, and calculator
