OverviewA high number of candidates may make applications for this position, so make sure to send your CV and application through as soon as possible.The Area Manager, Bleach Plant manages the daily and long-term operation of the Bleach Plant with respect to all safety, environmental, operations and maintenance activities. This position works under the direct supervision of the Superintendent, Pulping Operations, sharing responsibility for the direct supervision of four (4) Shift Supervisors in the direction of the Bleach plant operation.Key ResponsibilitiesDelegates the day-to-day supervision of the Bleach Plant operators to the Shift Supervisors in the operation of the Bleach Plant operation and provides assistance with technical, mechanical, and personnel problems.Works directly with Maintenance supervision in planning preventive and corrective maintenance activities for the Bleach Plant area to assure continued operation of equipment. Relate with Utilities operations personnel in adjudication of the recovery process.Manage communications with all outside vendors for Bleach Plant area chemical materials and services.Fills in for Shift Supervisor or Validator, Pulping Operations as necessary.Economic and efficient production of high-quality bleached Kraft pulp through proper control of assigned department areas. Attain production goals required for Bleach Plant operations.Assures maintenance of equipment for effective Bleach Plant operations, scheduling and directing maintenance activities as required.Coordinating Bleach Plant operational activities with other pulping, power, utilities and operating sections.Plans and schedules Bleach Plant operations to meet operating requirements and schedules.Developing effective processes, equipment and procedures to improve quality, costs and productivity within Bleach Plant.Analyzes, evaluates and recommends process and equipment requirements to provide more effective operations for Bleach Plant.Directs technical activities of process engineers and testing personnel assigned to his area, coordinating technical requirements with Manufacturing Engineering.Providing feedback of pertinent information to management for decision-making.QualificationsChemistry/Chemical Engineering/Pulp & Paper Degree or equivalent in experience, education.Preferred - three (3) years supervisory experience and five (5) years industrial experience.Sound basis in principles of Kraft pulping and Bleaching, along with a strong background of industrial equipment.Understands environmental requirements regarding both air and stream pollution.Ability to cope with day-to-day problems of equipment failures, employee disciplining and grievances, long hours and conflicting pulp demands from various sections of paper mill operations.#M1
