Assistant/Associate Professor - Exercise Science
The School of Kinesiology within the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in Exercise Science.
Faculty responsibilities:
The successful candidate selected for this position will be expected to initiate and maintain an active line of research and pursue internal and external funding to support research and instruction. The candidate will be expected to teach nine credit hours each spring and fall semester in undergraduate and graduate courses within one or more of the following areas: bioenergetics, research methods, muscle physiology, sports nutrition, exercise physiology and labs, periodization and prescription of exercise training, and research seminar. Additional teaching areas and specific assignments (e.g., classes in a particular area of specialization or supervision of capstone projects) may be required depending on the candidate's expertise and departmental needs. The candidate will also be expected to be chairman/member of Master's student committees. A willingness to collaborate with other faculty and staff within the department, college, university, and community is essential. Successful candidates must describe their commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment through research, teaching, and/or service activities.

The School:
The School of Kinesiology offers a B.S. in Kinesiology with concentrations in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Sport Management, Health Promotion and Wellness or Pre-Athletic Training. The School of Kinesiology offers a M.S. degree in Kinesiology with concentrations in Exercise Science, Health Promotion and Wellness, or Recreation and Sport Management. The School also offers a M.S. degree in Athletic Training. The School's facility includes a 1500+ sq. ft. lab spaces for basic science and human performance research projects. Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
* An earned doctorate in exercise science or a closely related field is required. ABD will be considered; the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.
* A record of peer-reviewed publications (Assistant Professor) or an established record as a PI of peer-reviewed publications (Associate Professor) in highly quality scientific journals
* The potential (Assistant Professor) or an established record (Associate Professor) of local, state, and federal funding to support your research project
* Teaching experience at the university level (Assistant Professor) or a successful record of teaching at the university level (Associate Professor)
* Evidence of outstanding organizational skills, as well as excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with
* National certifications through either the NSCA or ACSM are desirable.
* Postdoctoral training is preferable but not required.
