We are seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to join our Moving I-4 Forward team in Orlando, FL to assist in internal and external communications surrounding the Moving I-4 Forward effort. In this position, you will assist the Strategic Communications Manager with internal and external communications, public information, and community outreach. The Senior Communications Specialist may supervise and function as a mentor to junior professionals on the team to assist in their development. As the largest transportation program in Florida, the Moving I-4 Forward initiative is not only poised to transform a critical corridor in the Sunshine State but to also reshape the transportation industry's approach to delivery. Whether innovating new ways to collaborate with industry partners or investing in workforce development, Moving I-4 Forward is boldly leading the way for Florida's transportation future.   • Assist the Strategic Communications Manager in the development and execution of strategic communications plans that advance the Moving I-4 Forward program's goals and objectives.
  • Manage internal and external communications regarding the Moving I-4 Forward Program including the drafting of press releases, newsletters, fact sheets, talking points, public service announcements, social media content, FAQs, and other public information materials.
  • Supervise and mentor junior level staff.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to align communication strategies with overall program objectives.
  • Lead the coordination and implementation of special events including public meetings, open houses, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, and project tours.
  • Oversee the design of a variety of communication materials including project displays, flyers, brochures, newsletters, presentations, and maps.
  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts through metrics and feedback.
  • Coordinate with vendors and other partners for the production of communication collateral.
What will you contribute?
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relocation, English, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Eight or more years of professional related experience involving public relations, public outreach, and other related areas.
  • Knowledge of public relations and public involvement techniques and strategies; knowledge of media relations strategies
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, citizens, and appointed and elected officials.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with citizens and other concerned parties on a variety of issues.
  • Ability to understand and implement communication policies and practices, style guides, and brand standards.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in standard computer software.
  • English/Spanish or English/Portuguese is highly desirable.
  • Ability to respond quickly to company and client needs.
  • Flexibility and outstanding work ethic.
