Job Description BAE System is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic in support of the acids manufacturing facility at Holston Army Ammunition Plant located in Kingsport, TN. Primary duties of this role include corrective and preventive mechanical maintenance services on industrial equipment used in the processing of acidic liquids and energetic materials. Equipment being serviced to include: pumps, piping, valves, gearboxes, agitators, storage tanks, mixers, furnaces, distillation columns, filtration systems, and ventilation systems. The base work schedule for this position is M-Th, 10-hr shifts with occasional overtime to support facility operations. Duties include:
- Troubleshoot and repair chemical process equipment used in the handling and reclaiming of acidic liquids and energetic materials.
- Support manufacturing operations with mechanical service needs.
- Rebuild of gearboxes, pumps (vacuum / centrifugal), liquid compressors, and valve repairs / replacements.
- Fabrication and installation of process piping, steam piping (up to 300 lb service), water lines, hydraulic lines, and pneumatics.
- Pipe fitting and measuring for fabrication (flanges and threaded pipe).
- Removal and disassembly of equipment for inspection, cleaning, service, or repair.
- Setting of pumps, motors, process tanks, and equipment alignment.
- Adhere to all company policies, SOP's, departmental procedures, and Plant Protection Standards.
- Effectively document specific details of work activities performed and labor hours associated with each job for entry into CMMS and timekeeping systems.
- Utilize computer for completion of computer based learning assignments, email communications, and access of electronic reference materials.
- Communicate effectively with other team members, supervision, Facilities management, engineering, and customer base.
- Operate forklift and portable work platforms.
- Utilize basic hand tools and powered tools in completion of job assignments.
- Ability to remain calm and exercise good judgment in emergencies or stressful situations.
- Other duties as determined by immediate supervisor or chain of command.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - Education: high school diploma or GED with 5 years minimal experience in an industrial maintenance role.
- Experience: minimum of 5 years industrial maintenance experience
- Skills: ability to work in a team environment and with other skilled craft groups; ability to effectively communicate through verbal and written communications.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Prior work experience maintaining equipment within a chemical or hazardous material production environment.
- Associates degree in mechanical or electromechanical technology and/or completed DOL recognized industrial maintenance apprenticeship.
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $44640 - $71460Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
