Job Title: Athletic Fields Groundskeeper Wage/Hour Status: Non-ExemptReports to: Athletic Grounds Manager Pay Grade: Auxiliary Pay Grade 03Dept./School: Physical Plant Operations *Pre-screening may be conducted by an approved medical vendor prior to starting employment.Initiated Date: January 19, 2010Funding Source: 199 Local Funds Revised Date: May 13, 2021District Primary Purpose: To assist and promote La Joya ISD in implementing a rigorous curriculum/instructional program that supports student success and achievement.Department Primary Purpose: To provide the students with safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.Qualifications: Education/Certification: Eighth grade or HigherKnowledge/Skills: Ability to communicate (verbally)Ability to operate riding or paver mower, power tools and hand tools Ability to read and understand written instructionsMajor Responsibilities and Duties:
Complete cleaning schedule for the areas assigned, within the frequency requirements provided. Know the basic understanding of the chemicals and procedures used in the cleaning and operating schedules. Observe grounds cleaning and maintenance needs or requirements for the areas assigned and reports the needs to Athletic Field Supervisor. Routinely inspects areas for possible safety hazards and reports to Athletic Field Supervisor. Perform such additional duties as assigned by Grounds Supervisor.Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and playground areas neat and clean at all times. Perform yard-keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming, litter detail, as necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. Follow all Work from Home Protocols when working remotely.WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written)Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Ability to stand and walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel (67 to 99% of the work day). Able to talk or hear, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms, tasteor smell (0 to 33% of the work day).Push/pull (34 to 66% of the work day). Occasionally (0 to 33% of the work day) lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs with frequent (34 to 66% of the work day) lifting and/or carrying objects weighing 25 lbs or constant (67 to 99% of the work day) lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 10 lbs.No special vision requirements. Work environment; work near moving mechanical parts and vibration (34 to 66% ofthe work day), fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock (0 to 33% of the work day).No hearing or noise requirements.
