Job Description

General Functions

Responsible for monitoring and evaluating the quality and appropriateness as per the defined standards. Conducts regular reviews and monitors the data and ensures actions taken as a result of the reviews will be documented. Coordinates with the team to ensure optimum outcomes are achieved. Coordinates and reviews of the results of focus studies and data collected.

Work requires independent judgment and is performed under the general supervision of the assigned supervisor. Work is evaluated for effective quality management and compliance.

Representative Duties/Assignments

Duties may vary based on the area of assignment.

* Conducts regular reviews to ensure quality assurance/ quality control of procedures and data collected.

* Prepares and conducts focus studies in the area of assignment.

* Reviews all data and recommends improvement related to the area of assignment.

* Writes policies and standard operating procedures and ensure that all quality documents are consistent with the requirements.

* Analyzes data collected to trending and comparison.

* Coordinates and prepares reports and may serve on various committees.

* Performs supervisory duties as instructing planning, assigning and reviewing the work of others as it relates to quality improvement.

Fire Rescue EMS QA/QI (Additional Duties)

* Provides Quality Improvement education, as assigned

* Develops curriculum and conducts EMS classes and trainings, as assigned.

* Maintains working understanding of the OCEMS system protocols, OCFRD policies, and procedures.

* Maintains medical skills and proficiency.

* Attends assigned meetings and work groups representing the agency.

* Prepares presentations including the collecting and analyzing of data and statistics, summarizes findings, and providing suggestions.

Minimum Qualifications

Fire Rescue EMS QA/QI

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, in Fire Science, EMS management, Public Administration, Data Analytics, or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience .

Preferences

Fire Rescue EMS QA/QI

3 years of field experience as a certified Paramedic in a fire or EMS transport-based system

3 years of field supervisor experience in the rank of Lieutenant or higher (or equivalent)

Working knowledge of the OCEMS protocols

Pay Grade: 019 - From $31.80 to $41.35

Educational Requirements

If your education was obtained in the United States, the County recognizes degrees or diplomas which are accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). If you have obtained education from a country other than the United States, your degree or diploma must be evaluated to determine the United States equivalency by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service (NACES) or the Association of International Credentials Evaluations (AICE) at your expense.

Notes

Current certification by the State of Florida as a Paramedic (or Registered Nurse with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) related experience) with at least 1 year of field experience.

Must possess and maintain or complete and successfully pass all requirements for certification for Basic Life Support CPR (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and PreHospital Trauma Life Support (PALS).

Employees that do not possess the BLS, ACLS and/or PALS, must attend the first available classes scheduled by Orange County Fire Rescue and successfully obtain within 90 days of employment and maintain this certification.

Selected candidate will be required to successfully complete the pre-employment drug, physical and background check.
