Job Description :
Principle Duties (includes, but may not be limited to):
  • Visually inspect all components prior to assembly for compliance to work order specifications, and for burrs, defects and cleanliness.
  • Calculate the cut length of iso-bend pipe to achieve the correct finish length and mark the cut-off points.
  • Secure iso-bend pipe and cut to length with pipe cutting tool.
  • Set-up pipe sever machine and cut pipe to length without cutting the liner.
  • Install the correct flange/stub end combination and weld pipe housing in accordance with manufacturing and customer supplied specifications.
  • Recheck overall spool length with allowance for liner thickness, and complete the inspection sheet.
  • Assemble and tack weld fitting and special products using a press or other appropriate tooling.
  • Weld fittings and special products complete in accordance with manufacturing and customer supplied specifications.
  • Perform all welding in the position as specified by the Procedure and welder qualification.
  • Set-up welders with correct filler wire and compressed gas at the proper pressure setting.
  • When required, assemble, tack and tig weld fittings in accordance with manufacturing procedures.
  • Use blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering or customer supplied drawings and specifications.
  • Use ability to read measuring instruments not limited to, but including tape measure, micrometers and callipers.
  • Verify protective shield and restricted area signs are in place before welding.
  • Perform material handling functions using hand trucks and carts.
Qualifications/Experience :
  • Must have high school education or equivalent.
  • Should have ASME Section IX MIG certification, or be able to obtain certification within a reasonable period of time.
  • Three or more years experience with carbon steel preferred.
  • Fabrication experience and the ability to work from blueprints and sketches is required.
  • Five or more years welding experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
