Summary: The Manager of Clinical Applications is pivotal in implementing and supporting Chesapeake Regional Healthcare's clinical applications, including all Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing, and designing IT operational activities associated with clinical systems. The manager ensures these systems enhance mission-critical operations and are cost-effective while facilitating organizational governance regarding application portfolios and technology tool support. The Clinical Applications Manager works closely with IT Leadership, Service Line Administrators, and decision-makers to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology systems and integration for all aspects of the organization that improve efficiency and quality across all clinical applications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned. + Leadership: Provides direction to clinical departments to develop and maintain efficient clinical information systems. Ensures alignment with healthcare standards and organizational goals. + Project Management: Oversees and manages the implementation, upgrade, and maintenance of clinical systems. Provides project management oversight, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. + Policy and Procedure Management: Develops and updates policies, procedures, and guidelines related to clinical information systems ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. + Data Analysis and Reporting: Assists and leads the development and maintenance of dashboards and reports to monitor clinical system performance, usage patterns, and outcome metrics. Ensures that data-driven insights are accessible to relevant stakeholders to support decision-making processes. + Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Keeps abreast of changes in healthcare regulations and ensures all clinical applications comply with these changes. Responsible for managing the submission of required regulatory data and reports. Coordinates with compliance and legal teams to ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations. + System Optimization and Data Integrity: Continuously evaluates system processes and data integrity. Implements improvements to enhance the reliability and accuracy of clinical data within the EMR and related systems. + Stakeholder Communication: Communicates effectively across all levels of the organization and conducts educational sessions on system functionalities and updates. + Budget Management: Prepares budgetary recommendations, monitors expenditures, and manages funds allocated for clinical systems. + Vendor and System Management: Evaluates system performance, troubleshoots issues, and coordinates with vendors for resolution. Maintains relationships with external entities and oversees contractual commitments. + Team Leadership: Manages the IT Clinical Applications Team, setting objectives, reviewing performance, and fostering a collaborative team environment. + Continuous Improvement: Stays updated with trends in healthcare informatics, participates in relevant conferences, and implements best practices to enhance system efficiency and user satisfaction. Qualifications: + Education: Bachelor's degree required; RN or MSN preferred. + Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years in supervisory and departmental management within a healthcare setting. Clinical background strongly preferred. + Skills: Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management skills. Strong technical proficiency in healthcare applications. Effective communication and leadership abilities. Ability to effectively communicate with physicians, staff and vendors, solid written and verbal communication skills. Supervisory Responsibilities: + Reports to: Chief Information Officer + Collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Medical Officer, & Chief Medical Informatics Officer as needed. + Supervises: IT Clinical Applications Team Working Conditions: + Primarily office settings but may require visits to clinical areas. + Flexible work schedule as needed to support system availability and critical operations. Professional Development: + Encouraged to maintain professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Not required, but highly desirable: Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS), Project Management Professional (PMP), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
