The Sales Training Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive training programs that equip our in-the-field sales force with the knowledge, skills,and tools necessary for success. This role involves creating robust onboarding programs, developing engaging training materials and courseware, and continuously enhancing the curriculum to reflect the evolving needs of our sales division. Strong facilitation skills and the ability to foster confidence and success within the sales team are essential to this role.Essential Functions: Develop Training Programs:
- Conduct thorough assessments to identify organizational and individual training needs.
- Collaborate with department heads to understand specific skill gaps and development opportunities.
- Design and implement comprehensive training programs for new and existing sales team members.
- Design and implement training programs focused on the ability to prospect leads, build relationships, and close deals through direct interaction with customers.
- Create engaging training materials, including presentations, manuals, and interactive modules.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop a robust curriculum that is accurate and up to date.
Deliver Training Sessions:
- Conduct virtual and in-person training sessions, ensuring sales representatives understand sales techniques, the Sales and Auction Process, and the tools needed to perform the job.
- Provide hands-on coaching and mentoring to improve sales performance.
Sales Coaching and Support:
- Provide individualized coaching to sales representatives to enhance their skills, performance, and effectiveness.
- Conducts one-on-one sessions, identifying areas for improvement, and offers actionable feedback and strategies.
Evaluate Training Effectiveness:
- Assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
- Continuously update and enhance training materials based on feedback and industry trends.
Collaborate with Sales Leadership:
- Work closely with sales managers and leaders to identify training needs and align training programs with sales goals and strategies.
- Participate in sales meetings and strategy sessions to stay informed about sales objectives and challenges.
Support Onboarding:
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new sales hires, ensuring they quickly become proficient in our products and sales processes.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to new team members during their initial training period.
Stay Current with Industry Trends:
- Keep up to date with the latest trends, techniques, and technologies in sales training and relevant industries.
- Incorporate new methods and tools to enhance training programs and improve sales effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education, adult education and training, human resources, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of Learning and Development Experience
- 3+ years in face-to-face, in-the-field Sales Experience, demonstrating a proven ability to prospect leads, build relationships, and close deals through direct interaction with customers.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs, preferably in a corporate and/or field setting.
- Travel up to 50%
- Accomplished in-person and virtual Facilitation skills.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Proven experience as a Sales Trainer or in a similar training role.
- Strong understanding of sales processes and strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create engaging and effective training materials.
- Experience working with subject matter experts to design online learning experiences.
- Experience with e-learning platforms and tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to measure training effectiveness.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
