CAMBA serves more than 65,000 individuals and families each year, citywide, including almost 13,000 youth. Our 180+ programs in over 100 locations improve the lives of a diverse cross section of New Yorkers. From homelessness prevention in Staten Island to supportive housing in the Bronx; from employment training in Manhattan to after school programs and college access in Brooklyn; from family shelter and support in Queens to increasing affordable housing across the city, CAMBA provides holistic services to help struggling New Yorkers stabilize their lives and become self-sufficient.

CAMBAs Workforce Development and Refugee Services programs annually provide thousands of low income community members with culturally competent case management, employment, education, vocational training, benefits access, health, financial literacy and English language services, in house and by referral. CAMBA specializes in assisting those with special barriers to employment including low skilled workers, long-term unemployed, immigrants and refugees, limited English speakers, formerly homeless, seniors, formerly incarcerated, trauma survivors and victims of human trafficking. These programs are performance-based, and success is measured by meeting enrollment, employment placement, training, retention and case management goals.

Position: Employment Specialist

Reports To: Program Manager

Location: 475 Fountain Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11208

What The Employment Specialist Does:

+ Develop and maintain an accurate database of all existing and prospective employer contact information.

+ Research and regularly initiate contact with potential employers in the NY Metro area.

+ Market CAMBA's job placement services to new and existing employers; building a pool of job openings in various industries.

+ Request current job openings from existing and potential employers daily obtaining as much information on the position as possible.

+ Share job openings with other job developers and programs case managers if unable to fill position with client applicant caseload.

+ Review client information and interview clients to evaluate work history, skills, education, training, compensation needs, and other qualifications.

+ Review clients' resumes to ensure professionalism and accuracy.

+ Review job openings and match with client applicants qualifications.

+ Inform client applicants of open positions job duties and responsibilities, compensation and any other information made available by the potential employer.

+ Send resumes and client information to potential employers establishing clients' qualifications for open positions.

+ Schedule interviews and coordinate between clients and hiring managers.

+ Prepare clients for interviews with specific employers including conducting mock interviews.

+ Follow-up with clients after interviews to receive feedback on employers and clients' next steps.

+ Request feedback from employers regarding clients interview.

+ Periodically request documentation from employers establishing both placement and retention.

+ Collaborate with community partners and outside agencies, cultivating relationships to expand opportunities for education, outreach, and programming.

+ Plan hiring events and execute on logistics to support program components.

+ Maintain records of resumes, client flow, and employee selection.

+ Create narrative case notes on participant/client applicant progress at each point of contact.

+ Update client applicant information (resumes sent, interviews, employment, and retention) in computerized client applicant tracking systems.

+ Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

+ Bachelors Degree (B.A.) and one (1) year of experience in sales or recruiting.

Other Requirements:

+ Experience in job development or employment services in a social service setting preferred.

+ Bilingual preferred in Spanish or Creole.

+ Relevant education and years of experience described above.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.

+ Excellent ability to network with employers and community partners to generate outcomes for clients.

+ Client focused, culturally competent, empathetic, and flexible to the needs of clients and job seekers.

+ Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast paced, high volume, and deadline driven environment.

+ Organized and detail oriented with strong documentation skills and a commitment to upholding confidentiality.

+ Demonstrated ability and dedication to work with refugees, asylees, immigrants, young adults, and low-income populations.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Work (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Compensation: $55,000 annually

When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
