Purchasing Lead

The Purchasing Team Lead is responsible for the performance, quality, and daily management of their designated Purchasing Team. Organizes and drives resources of the team to achieve procurement of materials to support the production plans and demand forecasts. This role works closely with Commodity Managers to manage supply base.

As a Purchasing Lead you will:

* Serve as subject-matter expert for buying team, guiding and directing activities and projects of the team.

* Direct a team of Buyer personnel through daily management to improve material availability and eliminate production shortages, while optimizing inventory on hand.

* Maintain and execute standard work of established purchasing policies and procedures to assure economic utilization of people and material. Works in conjunction with Purchasing Manager to continuously improve practices.

* Serve as a first level of escalation for Buyer team or other cross functional personnel for critical issues, decisions, and direction required to perform daily functions.

* Work with others in the organization to understand material demands and forecast purchase requirements to meet G&W Electric customers and business purchasing demands.

* Manage and support Buyers in the execution of supplier development management programs. Manage supplier performance and development, including supplier scorecards maintenance and communication.

* Partner close with designated team Commodity Managers to align on forecast, inventory strategy, cost, and utilizes as a second level of escalation when managing existing supply base.

* Negotiate pricing when applicable, with Commodity Managers support. Resolve contract discrepancies, analyzes supplier performance, evaluates current processes, and implement internal improvements and be the first point of escalation from buyer/purchasing team resources.

As a Team Leader you will advise and coordinate team efforts to completion; answer questions functioning as an expert resource; maintain assignment completion schedules. Perform the same tasks as others within the team along with some higher-level tasks.

We are looking for someone who:

* Holds a Bachelors degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Material Management or related field.

* Has 8+ years of supply chain management experience in a global manufacturing environment.

* Has experience in a made to order, high mix manufacturing environment

* Possesses a demonstrated accomplishments in managing material costs in both favorable and unfavorable commodity price environments.

* Has experience working with strategic sourcing programs, globally.

* Has ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed

* Has excellent oral and written communication; excellent decision making and negotiation skills

* Ideally holds APICs, CPIM, or other related professional certification

Physical Demands / Working Conditions of the role are:

* General Office Environment, PC use

* Light Lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less)

* Sitting - frequent

* Standing, Walking, Bending occasional

What we offer you:

Typical pay is $81,900 106,500 annually.

Please note the pay information shown above is a general guideline. Pay is based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications.

This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program
