POSITION SUMMARY: The Electrician will install maintain and repair electrical equipment and parts, such as control panels. This position requires extensive knowledge of electrical components as well as electrical safety codes and regulations. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Maintenance & Facilities Manager and support the operations group in the shop. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Installs, repairs and maintains electrical components of industrial equipment.
- Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables.
- Ensures piping complies with electrical codes.
- Installs circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them.
- Connects electrical systems to powerlines to provide electricity to the building.
- Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
- Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed.
- Replaces conduit and wiring as needed.
- Replaces circuit breakers as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have successfully completed formal training in basic electrical theory.
- Knowledge of 110/220/440 volt systems, and lower DC control voltage
- Knowledge of electrical theory, electrical code and trade practices
- Schematic reading
- Ability to use basic test equipment
- Knowledge of low voltage controls.
- Advance controls - ability to troubleshoot start circuits, etc.
- Some troubleshooting for 24V equipment and analog systems
- Basic instrument testing, including valve positions and operational simulation etc.
- Ability to perform basic calibrations
- Basic PC skills
- Advanced troubleshooting of both instrumentation and electrical systems.
- Knowledge, troubleshooting and repair of AC and DC drives and controls.
- Ability to wire integrated systems from more advanced wiring schematics
- Knowledge of relay logic
- Familiar with data highway
- Ability to safely work on any equipment in the plant
- Ability to lay out own work with minimal direction
EDUCATION:
- The right candidate will have a High school diploma or equivalent, and have completed a formal apprenticeship or valid electrician's license .
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Currently employed as an Electrician in a manufacturing facility.
