Quality Technician - 1st Shift

BUSINESS: Industrial Pumps

LOCATION: Monroe, NC

DIRECT REPORTING: Defense Quality Supervisor

FUNCTIONAL REPORTING: Quality

The Quality Technician role consists of testing and inspecting products at various stages of the production process. Compiling and evaluating statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. This position reports to the Monroe Plant Quality Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Interprets Manufacturing drawings, all other formatted drawings & sketches, diagrams, or formulas and confers with management, manufacturing or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, tolerances, performance and mechanical characteristics.
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures when necessary.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to drawing & specification requirements. Analyzes results to applicable acceptance criteria.
  • Enters data into computer for graph & chart analysis.
  • Review and maintain incoming documents and data such as inspection reports to ensure they are obtained and stored in the proper manner.
  • Participates in the implementation and utilization of the CIRCOR Operating System
  • Oversees the Inspection process & handles all hardware related actions for the Manager. Addresses issues, questions & concerns for related matters.
  • Trains other inspection and manufacturing personnel in the use of automated inspection tools.

Job Requirements:

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) from two-year College or technical school; with one to three years related experience. Proficient in using stationary & portable CMM equipment to include writing inspection routines & programs for the equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees and leadership of the organization.
  • Assist Quality Coordinator in preparation for inspection process.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
