Responsibilities

  • Planning and Supervision: Manage the Assistant Superintendent (for larger projects) and/or craft activities, focusing on construction methods, workforce levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedules, and tracking actual hours worked.
  • Coordination: Ensure that assigned tasks are in sync with various crafts, company departments, and other contractors.
  • Liaison: Collaborate closely with engineering, estimating, and planning teams to guarantee adherence to drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Problem Resolution: Provide assistance in resolving construction challenges, including productivity issues and work interface conflicts as necessary.
  • Labor Relations: Aid the Labor Relations Department in engaging with unions, addressing jurisdictional disputes, and requisitioning required manpower, in line with the project's labor strategy.
  • Safety Monitoring: Ensure compliance with project safety programs among crafts, documenting actions and implementing necessary corrective measures.
  • Department Coordination: Work with departments such as Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering to ensure that all required materials, equipment, and inspections support craft activities and the project timeline.
  • Position Titles: Possible roles include Construction Superintendent (civil work), Structural Superintendent, Mechanical Superintendent, Electrical Superintendent, etc.
  • Project Management: May oversee all field operations for smaller projects, with support from the home office.

Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 8 years of supervisory experience in similar facility construction technologies, methods, equipment, and procedures.
  • Electrical Background: Strong electrical expertise is essential (data center experience is preferred but not required).
  • Construction Knowledge: Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control, with a demonstrated ability to manage large teams effectively.
  • Project Scope: Prior experience with commercial or industrial projects valued at $15M or more, including those in healthcare, higher education facilities, and office buildings.
  • Travel Requirements: Must be willing to travel to job sites.
