Master's degree preferred.Job Description SummaryThe University of South Alabama's Student Center is seeking to hire an Associate Director, Student Organizations and Leadership Development. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.Essential FunctionsThese are the job duties required of the position.Responsible for the administrative management and oversight of more than 200 student organizations and a comprehensive leadership development program.Guides all registered student organizations and provides support to them in the execution of their group activities, including assessing risk management, ensuring University policy compliance, promoting fiscal responsibility, sharing programmatic best practices, attending meetings and events as needed, and connecting organizations to University resources.Develops, implements, and evaluates leadership development initiatives to ensure students have opportunities for growth on campus in support of an academically and culturally inclusive environment.Provides professional development, guidance, leadership, strategic planning, program implementation, training, and assessment for Student Organizations and Leadership Development.Facilitates student organization mediation sessions to effectively resolve non-conduct conflicts and promote a harmonious campus environment.Supervises, mentors, and evaluates the performance of Student Organizations and Leadership Development professional and student staff.Assists in the oversight of InvolveSouth, our digital engagement software used for tracking student involvement and organization development.Negotiates, reviews, and executes contracts for Student Organizations and Leadership Development, including working with the Budget Office, Risk Management, and General Counsel.Oversees the annual budget for Student Organizations and Leadership Development.Develops and maintains the Student Organization Handbook, a policies and procedures manual that promotes student involvement on campus, updated annually.Plans and implements Student Organization Leadership Day (SOLD) and Get on Board Day.Develops, implements, and evaluates an annual student leadership conference and end-of-year gala.Coordinates Freshman Leadership Scholarship programs, including recruitment and selection processes, and serves as an instructor for the associated courses as needed.Facilitates Student Organization Committee meetings and activities.Accompanies students to regional and national conferences as needed and as appropriate.Leads the digital media efforts for Student Organizations and Leadership Development, including submitting EMS event reservations and providing oversight for InvolveSouth, social media, and website content.Monitors and prepares the timely processing of daily deposits, direct payments, bills, and invoices for Student Organizations and Leadership Development, including student employee payroll and vendors.Oversees the assessment plan and policy updates for Student Organizations and Leadership Development.Participates in department and division professional development activities.Monitors risk management exposure associated with Student Organizations and Leadership Development programming.Maintains active participation in professional associations such as AFA, NASPA, and SACSA.Serves as an event planning resource for campus, while having an understanding of University policies and procedures.Ensures compliance with University policies, and local, state and federal laws.Collaborates with colleagues in the division and across campus to provide a comprehensive student life experience while maintaining a commitment to learning and personal development.Develops collaborative relationships with faculty and staff for purposes of increasing student involvement, building community, and creating co-curricular student development opportunities.Performs all functions and responsibilities of Campus Security Authority, as defined by the Clery Act.Serves on University and Division Committees as assigned.Regular and prompt attendance.Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.Related duties as required.Posting InformationNumber of Vacancies: 1Job Open Date: 08/30/2024Job Close Date: Open Until FilledWorking Days: Monday - FridayWorking Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.Job Location: Main CampusFull-time or Part-Time: Full TimeRegular or Temporary: Regular#J-18808-Ljbffr
