Bard College seeks a full-time, in-person Grant Officer and Development Writer to join a dynamic team of fundraising professionals in the Office of Institutional Support, part of the Office of Development and Alumni/ae Affairs (ODAA). The Grant Officer and Development Writer will support the mission of Bard College by writing and drafting documents to raise funds from federal, state, and county agencies as well as private and corporate foundations.
The chosen candidate will work with Bard administration and staff to research and write successful funding proposals and reports to support operating, program, special, and capital needs of the College. This position reports to the Director of Institutional Support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintain a low- to mid-range portfolio of prospects and donors to various Bard programs and offices, taking ownership for developing proposals to foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individuals. Portfolio management duties include:
* meet regularly with administration and staff to advance the strategic initiatives of the College while developing and maintaining a strong working knowledge of programs that relate to the College's key priorities
* track grant application deadlines and reporting requirements
* identify and collect internal and external data needed for grant proposals
* draft and edit proposal submissions to foundations, corporations, and government agencies including narratives and financial budgets
* Craft reports and proposals to support the Vice President of ODAA
* Serve as a resource for program writing and copyediting for the Office of Institutional Support, the Development Office, and the Office of Alumni/ae Affairs
* Assist in updating the ODAA fundraising manual on an annual basis
* Participate fully in ODAA events, as assigned
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Institutional Support
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree
* Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience in a higher education or nonprofit setting
* Experience in a university foundation and government relations office, development office, or equivalent a plus
* Knowledge of federal and state grant-related compliance issues a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Exceptional written communication skills: ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
* Excellent editing and copy-editing skills
* Excellent attention to detail
* Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet inflexible deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
* Ability to effectively network and make meaningful partnerships

Compensation: $58,500 - $65,000
This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
