Job Description :
This position performs mapping of real property in order to provide accurate records for identification and appraisal purposes. Serves as a lead position in the mapping section.This class specification reflects the general concept and intent of the classification and should not be construed as adetailed statement of all work requirements that may be inherent in the position.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:1.Monitors status of all work in the mapping section to assure timely output.2.Prepares all edits to Assessor maps and distributes these edits to the GIS Department for input.3.Assigns and records parcel numbers and legal descriptions according to various legal documents for all property within the County.4.Process and input boundary line adjustments, subdivisions, short plats, long plats, annexations, vacations, ordinances, segregations and combinations to all property within the County.5.Verifies property legal descriptions.6.Maintains legal ownerships and contact information records according to various legal documents (i.e. deeds, death certificates, divorce decrees, etc.7.Intake and process current use, designated forest land and other Assessor administrated State programs as assigned.8.Prepares and enters corrections to property tax statements and related documents.9.Research historic records of varying content.10.Supports the appraisal staff in identification, location, and dimensions of property to ensure accurate appraisals.11.Assists the public and other departments with property research and various aspects of Assessor's Office property management.12.Effectively communicates orally and in writing.13.Creates and maintains good relations with fellow employees and the general public.14.Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:1.Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.2.Ability to organize work and meet established deadlines.3.Knowledge of proper phone etiquette and customer service techniques.4.Skilled in the use of standard office equipment i.e., computers, printers, calculators, etc.5.Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software.6.Skilled in attention to detail and accuracy.7.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with coworkers, supervisors and the general public.8.Skilled in the proper use of spelling, punctuation, and rules of grammar.Education and Experience:1.High school diploma or GED.2.Two (2) years of experience in cartography.3.A valid Washington State driver's license and acceptable driving record.Desirable Qualifications:* Five (5) years' experience in an Assessor's Office.* Background in real estate or land surveying.* Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
