Our challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong technical background to join our team. An experienced Data Engineer (SQL) with strong communication skills.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $115k - $125k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable database solutions using SQL, T-SQL, and SSIS.
  • Implement database design and normalization best practices to ensure data integrity and efficiency.
  • Optimize queries and tune database performance for large-scale data processing.
  • Design and implement ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into data warehouses.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability by implementing data governance practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud data solutions, including Azure SQL or AWS RDS, to design and deploy cloud-based data architectures.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in data engineering and cloud solutions.

Requirements:

You are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL for data manipulation and querying.
  • Strong experience with SSIS for ETL process development and implementation.
  • Expertise in database design, normalization, and optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Azure SQL or AWS RDS.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and architecture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience with additional data processing frameworks or tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or Java for data processing tasks.
  • Knowledge of data modelling and data architecture principles.
  • Experience with data governance and compliance requirements.
