Job Description :

The Chief Quality Officer provides clinical and administrative leadership and direction to the quality division and other assigned departments. The CQO will have direct oversight for the areas of Quality Management, Safety, Corporate Compliance, Risk Management, Utilization Management, Social Services, Infection Control, Accreditation, Behavioral Health and Employee Health Programs. The position is responsible for facilitating development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of services within the assigned areas through collaboration with the clinical/medical staff, nursing leadership and other managers. The CQO's success is measured by the achievement of organizational wide quality goals and adherence to policies, procedures, and standards set forth by state, federal, and hospital regulatory agencies. The CQO is accountable for establishing operational mechanisms and quality leadership structures which facilitate safe and quality patient care and working environment. All duties are performed consistent with BBGH standards and behaviors.

Box Butte General Hospital (BBGH) is a non-profit, critical access hospital that is accredited by The Joint Commission. Our hospital exists to operate and maintain economically feasible health care services for the residents of the area. We provide a quality and nurturing environment for patients, medical staff, and the public in a full continuum of care with our 25-bed critical access hospital and rural health clinics. We have an extensive medical service line that includes everything from family practice medicine to surgical and non-surgical specialties. We offer three designated rural health clinics, a surgery specialty clinic and an outpatient specialty clinic to meet the needs of our patients in and around our county. The continuum and mission are supported by a team of almost 300 employees.

BBGH offers a range of clinical services and a team of experienced nurses, doctors, advanced practice providers and other medical professionals. Our services include: behavioral health, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, dialysis unit, emergency department, ENT, family medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, heart and vascular, hospitalists, infusion, lab, obstetrics and gynecology, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, oral surgery, pain management, pediatrics, physical therapy / occupational therapy / speech therapy/ respiratory therapy, senior life solutions, sleep studies, urology, women's health, and wound care.

BBGH is a county owned health care facility that is governed by five Board of Trustees members. Trustees shall be appointed by the County Commissioners with staggered terms of six years. The Board of Trustees along with the input from the executive leadership team establish and maintain the mission, vision, values, commitments, and strategic direction of the hospital.

Qualifications

Bachelors or higher degree preferred in nursing from an accredited college or university required. A bachelors degree or higher degree in social work, allied health, health and human services, or population health field of study from an accredited college or university may be considered. Master's degree, if not already obtained, will be required within four (4) years of employment start date. Must be in the field of nursing, healthcare administration, health or human services, or population health from an accredited college or university.

Minimum of five (5) years of recent leadership experience in acute care, hospital operations, or managed health care setting, which includes quality, infection control, epidemiology or related field required. Recent experience in quality management, corporate compliance, utilization management, discharge planning, or social work and familiarity with The Joint Commission accreditation process is preferred.

Current certification in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) is required. Certification in infection control, and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) strongly preferred. Membership in the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology required within two (2) years of employment. Active membership in the National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) and the Nebraska Association for Healthcare Quality, Risk, and Safety (NAHQRS) strongly preferred.

Residency Requirement

The new CQO will be required to live within the Box Butte General Hospital service area.
