About the role:The AWP Art Therapist is a full-time mental health role within the Ascent Wellness Program Campus. The Art Therapist will be serving clients in mental health recovery, with an approach that follows AWP principles and mission in order to create accessible, inclusive, culturally-aware, and fully-customized mental health support services. The Art Therapist will work within multidisciplinary mental health teams and will follow a psychosocial rehabilitation approach focused on client's choice. The Art Therapist will help develop intervention plans, including supporting a client's journey toward autonomy by exploring creative, art-based activities that can support the client in balancing their nervous system and bringing relief to symptoms outside of session. IMPORTANT NOTE: This position is primarily serving clients in-home and via telehealth; travel between in-home sessions within Milwaukee County is a significant part of the job.Job Qualifications:
  • REQUIRED: Master's degree from an accredited art therapy program.
  • REQUIRED: Certification from Art Therapy Credentials Board.
    • Wisconsin state licensure preferred.
    • Proof of training in trauma-informed care preferred.
  • REQUIRED: A valid WI driver's license, state-mandated auto insurance, and access to a personal vehicle for travel to in-home appointments within Milwaukee County.
  • REQUIRED: Professional work experience related to mental health.
    • 2+ years work experience as a trauma-informed art therapist preferred.
  • Excellent professional communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with solid organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
