Job Description :

Join our team as a Design Intern at the MCB Converting Plant, where you will gain hands-on experience in the design aspects of our operations. This is an exciting opportunity to learn from industry professionals and contribute to innovative packaging solutions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Design Manager and design team to support ongoing projects.
  • Assist in specifying and designing boxes tailored to clients needs.
  • Operate the CAD table to create and modify designs.
  • Complete Design Request Quotations (DRQs) accurately and efficiently.
  • Gain an understanding of different board grades and their applications in packaging.
  • Learn the basics of routing and machinery used in the converting process.
  • Design marketing leave-behinds to support sales efforts.
  • Develop foundational skills in graphic design relevant to packaging.
  • Explore various box styles and their functional uses in different industries.
Education and/or Experience Be enrolled in college education or heavy college coursework in the field of drafting, design and engineering. Good communicator with customers and sales staff. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Technical Skills The individual will be open to learning the following: Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will be help the supervisor find areas that require improvement. Quality Standards Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and sit and stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This position is for the Summer of 2025 and a paid Internship in Design.
