Position Title Director of Operations, HCLAS Dean's Office Position Number 896400 School/Division Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Department Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description
Reporting to the Dean, the Director of Operations manages the daily operations of the Dean's Office and supports the Dean in coordinating cross-functional projects to deliver on both operational and strategic priorities. The Director of Operations prioritizes workflow and takes an active role in making recommendations to improve operations, efficiency, and timeliness. The Director also supports the office's communications (including social media) and data management. This is an on-site, in-person position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Coordinates the Dean's daily schedule and supports the Dean in focusing on key priorities through strategic calendar and task management; assists in meeting preparation.
* Manages daily operations of the office, including oversight of vacation calendars and coordination of the work of 153 support staff.
* Leverages the latest technology to improve office processes and workflows, and coordinates among offices to drive results.
* Plans, executes, and monitors various processes and functions as the office's process innovation driver.
* Addresses challenges and proactively identifies solutions, easing bottlenecks and making processes more efficient.
* Builds relationships with academic and administrative units to support workflow improvement.
* Helps coordinate cross-functional projects to achieve project goals using technology-driven platforms.
* Provides project management capacity to the Dean and proactively plans for upcoming meeting agendas, events, and gathers documents and data from various stakeholders to support them.
* Assists the Dean in implementing operational strategies that align with the University's goals.
* Defines office processes and identifies key performance indicators that align with the University's and the Dean's priorities.
* Acts as a liaison between the Dean's Office and other stakeholders, as needed.
* Occasionally represents the Dean's Office at meetings that pertain to the Director's areas of responsibility.
* Coordinates submissions to the Provost's Office.
* Produces and manages content for various communication channels.
* Liaises with University Marketing to drive content for University-wide venues.
* Monitors media channels for any content that the office should be aware of (crisis communications, PR management, etc.).
* Organizes and maintains the office's shared drives, ensuring that our documentation is well organized, appropriately archived, and digitally easy to access.
* Experiments to find better technology-driven organization and storage solutions.
* Performs other related duties and projects as assigned by the Dean.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree required.
* Minimum 5 years of related experience.
* Strong project management skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Ability to establish excellent working relationships with key stakeholders.
* Ability to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
* Ability to handle sensitive information with absolute discretion.
* Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence as well as an innovative and strategic mindset.
* Demonstrated good judgment and excellent prioritization skills.
* Experienced user of Microsoft Office, Google, and Adobe products.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree (MBA or similar) preferred.
* Strategic planning experience and/or technology implementation experience.

Salary/Salary Range $70,000 - $80,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. * Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
