Instruct COMM262 - Portfolio Preparation-Communication - This course is intended for Broadcast Production, Communication and Media Arts, and Digital Cinema program majors in their second year of study. Students explore transfer options and/or potential employers/clients and create a visual/audio portfolio. Topics include researching transfer schools and/or employment opportunities, selecting works for the portfolio, considering different portfolio delivery and presentation methods, writing mission statements and resumes, interviewing skills, and creating a finished portfolio that meets the requirements of the targeted transfer institutions or employers.
Teaching assignments may involve teaching day, evening, online, hybrid, and HyFlex courses.
Adjunct instructors will be expected to:
* Provide excellent teaching and instruction
* Create, submit, and follow a syllabus that aligns with the course's Master Course Syllabus
* Use the Learning Management System to provide course materials to students
* Be available to students through office hours, timely grading, and responsive communication
* Read and abide by the policies listed in the Teaching Manual
* Submit all records by their respective deadline; including progress reports, student concern notices, and grades
* Understand and enact mission and values of TC3, and the equity, diversity, justice and inclusion plan.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Communication or directly related degree with experience in field production; or Associate's Degree in Communication or directly related degree with significant industry experience (greater than fifteen years).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience teaching in an accredited higher education institution, especially a community college, is preferred.
EXPECTED HIRING SALARY RANGE:
For Adjunct Faculty, rates are pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement between Tompkins Cortland Community College and the TC3 Adjunct Association. Current entry pay rate is $1,026 - $1,082 per credit hour. Rates subject to change pending outcome of TC3 Adjunct Association negotiations.
