POSITION SUMMARY OF PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology for Winpak Portion Packaging, Inc, the IT Support Technician handles the Local Area Network, related computer equipment, and mobile devices for Winpak Portion Packaging Inc.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains the integrity of the LAN by complying with Corporate IT directive, maintaining backup procedures for the server(s), ensuring the most current version of the approved antivirus software is installed on the server(s), and that all computers updated with most the most current software version.Ensures the LAN is secure from any unauthorized outside sources.
Acts as the local help desk for users by answering queries and providing technical support.
Install software and/or hardware for clients and servers as directed.
Works with Human Resources to ensure all users of the LAN, e-mail, internet and remote access have read and returned a signed copy of the IT policies.Also works with Human Resources to give or remove system security access based on job description/needs, hire date, and termination date.
Responsible for IT equipment purchases (servers, desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, etc.) including completing the appropriate appropriations documentation and obtaining proper approvals within Corporate guidelines.
Maintains a detailed fixed asset ledger of all computer hardware at the location and at remote locations.
Trains users or works with Human Resources, to source IT related training needs such as Window, Excel, Word, or any other office software tools, as required.
Maintains the local telephone system and coordinates the data and voice communications services.
Supports cell phones, mobile devices, printers, and networking equipment as required.
Become a Subject matter expert on Mobile Device Management for Tablets used for internal applications.
Configure, maintain, and support handheld barcode wireless devices, servers, networking equipment (switches and access points), printers / copiers / scanners, pc's / laptops / tablets, and other IT equipment.
Other functions and special projects as assigned.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have strong knowledge of all relevant software including: MS-Office, Windows OS, Server OS.
Requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to be able to communicate with a wide range of people.
Must have good time management skills including a strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and make quick decisions.
EXPERIENCE:
3 - 4 years IT support related experience
EDUCATION:
LEVEL: Equivalent to Community College or partial University
FIELD: Business Major with IT focus
