Job Type Full-timeDescriptionDepartment: Community LearningClassification: ClericalJob Title: Community Learning Team LeadReports To: Community Learning ManagerLocation: LPCPL ExchangePosition Type: Non-ExemptGrade: IIIJOB PURPOSESupports the educational and maker initiatives of LPCPL as part of the Community Learning Team with a focus on day-to-day operation of the maker and collaboration space known as the LPCPL ExchangeESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESProvides first point of contact for customers and in person requests for assistanceWorks in collaboration with staff to plan, conduct, and promote, library classes, events, and initiativesWorks with customers and staff using a problem-solving mindset with demonstrated ability to overcome design challenges involving critical thinking, decision-making, creativity, and information processingLeads projects as assignedMaintains customer accounts Participates in routine basic maintenance of maker and STEAM equipment Manages reservations for use of spaces and equipmentPerforms duties required for set up, clean up, and resupply for classes and events. Listens more than speaks; responds appropriately; seeks influenceDecision Quality - makes decisions and solves problems; can deal adeptly with varied levels of complexity, ambiguity, and risk; takes responsibility and accepts ownership for decisions regardless of outcome; responds promptly and appropriately in crises situationsDrives for Results - focuses on results and desired outcomes and how best to achieve them; does not confuse effort with results; gets the job doneRequirementsPOSITION REQUIREMENTSYou have a high school diploma or equivalent and specialized training applicable to position One-year experience with makerspaces or similar facilities preferredYou have a valid driver's license You will be required to complete specialized training on maker and STEAM equipmentYou are comfortable and confident working in an environment with a variety of hardware devices and software products, and willingness to learn new technologiesYou are able to think on your feet and know when to seek helpYou use independent judgementYou have previously worked in customer service for one yearYou organize multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlinesYou travel to all locations, as neededYou welcome working with all people in the communityYou are positive, adaptable, and forward thinkingYou display appropriate demeanor at all times; this includes dress, body language, and facial expressionsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTMobility: Frequently lifts and carries 10-50 pounds; occasionally pushes/pulls 50+ pounds using cart; regularly sits and stands to do work; occasionally kneels, squats, bends, twists, grasps, and reaches above shoulders to move materialsWorks in a well-lit, and adequately ventilated environment requiring the observance of safe work practices, fire regulations, and avoidance of falls, trips, and similar shop/lab hazardsEnvironmental exposures: exhaust fumes, odors, dust particles while cleaning various equipment; temperature fluctuations; noise level is moderate normally; louder noise levels during use of makerspace equipmentWorks around moving machinery including 3D printers, laser cutting, sewing, electronics, lathes, and the use of basic hand tools in a lab or educational setting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): gloves, goggles, masksOffice environment; exposure to materials returned in unfavorable conditionsVision abilities include: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perceptionMust be able to respond to fire alarms, warning sirens, and phone pages
