If you are a current Barnard College employee, please use the internal career site to apply for this position.Job:Lecturer of Comparative Literature and Translations StudiesPosition Description:The Program in Comparative Literature and Translation Studies at Barnard College seeks to appoint a full-time lecturer with a strong competence in narrative forms of literature, including the novel. Especially encouraged to apply are candidates whose work is comparative, transnational, trans-medial, and interdisciplinary, who can teach across languages and geographical areas and who engage with questions of translation and processes of adaptation across cultures, historical periods, and media.The teaching load is 3-3. The lecturer would participate in the teaching of required courses for the major and design electives in the comparative and interdisciplinary study of narrative, with one at the 2000-level that would fulfill Barnard's college-wide Modes of Thinking requirements. The lecturer would also participate in teaching in the College's First-Year Seminar Program. Responsibilities also include advising Comparative Literature and Translation Studies majors and senior thesis writers.Application Requirements:Eligibility requirements: Ph.D. in comparative literature or related literary discipline, strong interdisciplinary background, teaching experience, demonstrated strong commitment to interdisciplinary teaching.All materials for the application must be received by December 1st, 2024: Application materials are listed below:1.
