The Volunteer Services department is looking for a new energetic and personable Volunteer Coordinator who will work closely with the community (high school students, college students, senior volunteers, etc.) to give them a glimpse into the healthcare industry.
Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8 - 4:30. This is an in-office position, NOT HYBRID.
**Purpose:**
Responsible for staffing and scheduling of volunteer for the Volunteer Services Department to support the Manager or Volunteer Services as needed.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Primary Duties:
+ Recruits, interviews, provide orientation and schedules all adult and student volunteers.
+ Responsible for the compliance of volunteer files.
+ Maintains current records for all volunteers.
+ Assists in the development of volunteer assignment descriptions for all positions.
+ Schedules and plans group orientation and in-services.
+ Maintains high level of volunteer morale, through appreciation and recognition events.
+ Coordinates monthly schedules and obtains substitutes or permanent replacements, as needed.
+ Updates volunteer information in the database.
+ Recruits active volunteers for special projects.
+ Encourages spirit of community throughout the Hospital, which in turn attracts and helps to retain sufficient qualified volunteers to meet department needs.
+ Responsible for delivery of daily mail, cards, and flowers to patient rooms.
+ Also, distribution of magazines and circulars to public areas and waiting rooms.
+ Responsible for developing and managing relationships with department clinical managers to ensure department's volunteer needs are fulfilled in a timely manner.
+ Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
+ Manage Co-op program through collaboration with surrounding area high schools.
+ Secondary Duties:
+ Responsible for assisting Volunteer Services Manager on special projects or community awareness programs as needed.
+ Serves on ancillary committees which can utilize volunteers as needed.
+ Assists Volunteer Services Manager in presentations to departments and/or management as needed.
+ Human Relations / Contact and Communications:
+ Daily contact with employees, volunteers and general public requiring excellent communication and presentation skills.
+ Importance is given to encompassing diversity of volunteer populations with emphasis on age specific requirements, i.e. visual, communication and hearing.
+ Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science Degree.
+ Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
+ Must be able to multi-task or manage multiple projects and people simultaneously.
+ Must be sensitive to volunteer needs and capabilities.
+ Two to four years' experience in a hospital environment preferred.
**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
+ Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
+ Act 33 with renewal
+ Act 34 with renewal
+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
