Working under the guidance of the Graphics Manager, the graphics designer is responsible for preparing artwork for flexographic, lithographic and digital printing processes. The graphics designer develops and demonstrates a strong technical expertise in prepress-related software, GMG, Packz, and Adobe Creative Suite software with an emphasis on Adobe Illustrator, as well as knowledge in Mac and Windows operating systems. The graphics designer works with customers and sales representatives to achieve the clients' vision requirements while creating production-friendly graphics files. Duties and Responsibilities
- Present ideas and designs to sales representatives and customers
- Work with 3D software to achieve clients' packaging goals
- Convert artwork to print for flexographic, lithographic and digital presses
- Collaborate with in-house structural design and press professionals to produce the desired end product
- Produce prototypes and high-quality digital color proofs
- Follow press guidelines for proper color separation and trapping requirements
- Attend press checks to ensure the quality and color accuracy of printed products
- Validate printing plates and label proofs from vendors
- Maintain cutting edge technical knowledge
- Follow imaging and prepress workflow procedures
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years or more experience in a prepress environment
- Experience in package design and flexographic printing
- Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop expertise
- Solution-driven, with the ability to work through problems, follow-up in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously with a positive, respectful and enthusiastic manner
- Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work with changing priorities and interruptions
- Active team player who can work with minimal supervision
- Meet deadlines with accurate and consistent results
- Strong organizational skills
Preferable Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher
- GMG color software experience
- Experience with Hybrid software: Packz and IC3D
- Familiar with Adobe InDesign
- Experience in four-color process printing methods
- Experience with Mac and Windows computers
- Experience in the corrugated packaging industry
- Strong design sense
